We’re always on the lookout for new reasons to search out new music and our research brought us to the book ‘Perfecting Sound Forever: The Story of Recorded Music’ by Greg Milner.
Starting with Edison and the early days of recording capabilities through to the ultimate digitisation of the music business, the book is peppered with interesting stories, interviews, opinions and myths.
Of particular interest is the section on the recording studios during the 60s, 70s, and 80’s, the loudness wars and various styles and sounds that originated in the studio, and why.
We’ve never wanted to listen to Def Leopard and Steely Dan so much before. It must be good!
